How to block gambling on Android

Last checked October 16, 2026 against official help pages. Apps change, so if a button has moved, the official page wins.

Android doesn't have one built-in gambling switch, so the best setup is a blocker app plus a couple of Google's own settings. Together they make it a lot harder to slip back in on a bad night.

  1. Step 1: Install a blocker

Set up BetBlocker (free) or Gamban. See our BetBlocker and Gamban guides for each step.

  2. Step 2: Delete betting apps

Uninstall every sportsbook and casino app. Google's content restrictions don't remove apps you already have.

  3. Step 3: Lock down Google Play

Open Google Play, tap your profile icon, then Settings, Family, Content restrictions. Set a PIN and choose an app rating. Google's help page has details.

  4. Step 4: Have someone else hold the PIN

Ask a person you trust to create the PIN so you don't know it.

  5. Step 5: Add app timers if they help

In Settings, Digital Wellbeing, App timers, you can limit your browser or other apps that pull you in. See Digital Wellbeing help.

Good to know

  • Content restrictions don't stop search results or direct links. That is why the blocker app matters.
  • Mute sports apps' betting notifications too.
